Putting it All Together:
When it comes to floral splendor you've got a lot of choices these days.
Flower shops, garden centers and upscale grocery stores offer a wide selection of flowers by the bunch that you can mix and arrange to your heart's content. Fruits, grasses and even vegetables can be blended with flowers to make an opulent, bountiful presentation.

In general, keep table centerpieces low, so people can talk over them. Buffet tables give you an excellent opportunity to create a tall and impressive runner of flowers and fauna.

Creating an Inviting Outdoor Space
When the weather permits, move the celebration outdoors and let Mother Nature be your florist. To be comfortable outdoors always bear in mind the basics:
  • Warmth
Have on hand a variety or men's and women's sweaters, shawls, jackets, or scarves for people who are feeling chilly.

  • Light
Strings of small electric lights in paper globes, candles or a cozy fire in the chiminea can all add magic to an outdoor setting.

  • Bugs
Several days before the party, empty all standing water nearby. Fog the area early in the day and light citronella candles (citronella votives are even available for traditional candleholders).

  • Shelter
Unless you have a rain date and venue planned, count on providing shelter such as a tent or canopy.

  • Luxuries
Just because you're outdoors, it's still very appropriate (and delightful) to use your fine linens and best china.
