| Invitations create anticipation. |
 |
The type of invitation you choose and the way in which you deliver it sets your guests' expectations as to what kind of party to expect!
- Telephone
If your guest list is small, call everyone and then follow up with a written reminder. Important: Speak to each invitee directly - don't leave a voicemail message. An invitation should be as personal and direct as you can make it.
- Printed Invitations
Except for very formal occasions, for which engraved invitations are appropriate, printed invitations will suffice. Give yourself plenty of time, though. See a consultant at a department store or stationers at least six weeks in advance of your party.
- "Fill-In" Invitation Cards
Specialty paper stores carry a variety of pre-printed, "fill-in-the-blanks" invitation cards that express a wide range of entertaining styles and moods. It's an affordable yet creative alternative to printed invitations.
- Online/E-Mail
If everyone on your guest list has an e-mail address, this is a decidedly efficient option. You can either e-mail everyone yourself, or use an online service such as evite.com. One caution: Some people consider electronic invitations to be somewhat impersonal, so carefully consider both your guest list and the kind of party you're having.
- Computer-Generated
If you're proficient with a computer and printer you can create beautiful invitations with a very personal touch. Check out our printable invitations.
